What is wedding design?

Wedding design is the process of creating the overall look, vibe, and guest experience of a wedding. While wedding planning focuses on logistics, timelines, contracts, and coordination, wedding design focuses on aesthetics and how all the visual elements work together.

As your wedding designer, I assist in the following areas:

  • Developing the wedding vision: style, mood, atmosphere, theme

  • Creating mood boards and design presentations to narrow down ideas and visually communicate ideas

  • Creating a color palette

  • Selecting decor elements: linens, tableware, candles, signage, lounges, additional specialty rentals

  • Floral design direction: I relay the vision to the florist and work with them to create a cohesive look

  • Signage: I guide in the signage process, ie, what is needed, overall design, etc. Ideally, we work with a professional signage designer to achieve the desired look

  • Overall vendor coordination to achieve a cohesive look throughout each and every detail

How do we achieve the above?

  1. First and foremost, I need to get to know you! What do you want your wedding to feel like? This question is more important than what you want your wedding to look like (though that is important as well!). What are some unique traits about your relationship that you want exemplified at your wedding?

  2. Next, I need to know what your budget is. It is very important as we head into the design stage, especially as we begin choosing rentals, that we stick to a budget.

  3. I create mood boards and mock tablescapes to help us narrow down what rentals we want and what overall vibe best fits you. This step might include visiting rental companies and setting up mock tables in person so we get a very clear idea of what looks good!

  4. We bring it all together! We rent items, order signage, book appropriate vendors, etc.

Important notes:

  • If I am your wedding manager, I am more than happy to give advice, but I do not assist in research or overall development of your wedding design. This is something you would focus on, and pull me in to final decisions once you need to narrow it down.

  • As your partial planner, we heavily work together on this. For a couple that has a relatively clear idea of their vision but needs help executing, partial planning is for you!

  • And if I am your full-time planner, I can take all of your ideas and answers to my personal questions and run with it. I will create, design, and book, everything, and work directly with every single vendor to bring your vision to life!
